The Optimist Junior Golf Program is a unique junior golf program for ages 10-18. More than 5,000 boys and girls throughout Canada, the United States and several foreign countries compete in official Optimist Qualifying Tournaments . The best of all these golfers advance to the annual Optimist International Junior Golf Championships – Commonly referred to as “The Optimist”.
The Optimist International Junior Golf Championships is one of the largest and most prestigious junior golf events in the world. In addition to top-level tournament golf, participants have the opportunity to learn, to meet new friends and have a great deal of fun. Each year, more than 750 junior golfers from 30 countries participate in The Optimist. Our tournaments have served as a springboard for many accomplished professional golfers such as elite players Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Tiger Woods, David Toms, Steven Ames, Chris Riley, Jonathon Byrd, Jeff Overton and Stacy Pammansudh just to name a few. From a more localized standpoint several well known past participants include, Brooke Henderson, Corey Conners, Stephane Dubois, Garrett Rank, Zach Kempa, Robyn Doig, Mike Weir, Alena Sharpe, Lisa Maunu, Matt Hill, Mitch Sutton, Britt Pronk, Jace Walker, Brett McIntosh, Jennifer Kirby and Nicole Vandermade.

The Optimist Junior Golf Program extends from the local to the International level. Our Program is based on a short series of qualifiers to advance to the Canadian Optimist National Junior Golf Championships and the International Junior Golf Championships. The progression of qualifiers starts at the local level with the next stage being an Optimist District Championship for your area. Junior golfers from the District Championships can qualify to attend the Canadian Optimist National and or the Optimist International Golf Championships at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Boys and girls from the ages 10 to 18 including all skill levels are welcome.
